1. Milton Friedman
Milton Friedman, the Nobel Prize-winning economist got pied in the face with a coconut cream pie by Al Decker, who is a environmentalist and a member of the Biotic Baking Brigade. Decker pied him because his group opposed the privatization of education.
2. Bill Gates
Bill Gates, the software magnate who is one of the co-founders of Microsoft was pied in the face in Brussels by Noël Godin who was a Belgian critic. His act was not done with malice but as a mischief. After bombarding Gates, Godin allegedly said, “My work is done here.”
3. Sylvester Stallone
Sylvester Stallone, the Hollywood action hero was pied in the face by the Montreal-based satirical political group, les Entartistes in 1998 while he was opening a Planet Hollywood in Montreal. The group was notorious for pieing and their other victims included Jean Charest, Mario Dumont, Stéphane Dion, Allan Rock, Pierre Pettigrew, William Johnson, Pierre Bourque, Jean Doré, Jacques Parizeau, Bernard Landry and Jacques Duchesneau.
4. Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta, the famed fashion designer was pied in the face by Kelly Nichols, a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal in 1996. She was against him using animal furs in his collection.
5. John Pepper
John Pepper the chairman of Procter & Gamble Co was hit in the face with a tofu cream pie by Melynda Duval, who is a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal in 1998. She hit him with the pie and said: “Procter & Gamble poisons animals! Shame on you, John Pepper! Shame on you!”
6. Calvin Klein
Calvin Klein, the American fashion designer was hit in the face with tofu cream pies by two fur protesters from PETA which were intended for Karl Lagerfeld. The incident took place at Lincoln Center in 2001.
7. Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter, the controversial conservative pundit got hit in her shoulder with a custard pies while she giving a speech at the University of Arizona in 2004 by two men from the group, Les Entartistes. When asked about the intention, one of the guys replied, he threw pie’s at her ideas and not her.
8. Jean-Luc Godard
Jean-Luc Godard, the French film director was pied at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival by Noël Godin, who makes his second appearance on this list. This was done in protest of his controversial movie, Hail Mary (1985), which was criticized by Pope John Paul II for hurting religious sentiments.
9. Rupert Murdoch
Rupert Murdoch, the media baron who has become a creepy old man, was hurled at with a shaving foam pie by Jonathan May-Bowles, who is a standup comedian. The incident took place at the committee hearing where Murdoch was testifying before a British Parliament committee about the News of the World phone hacking scandal in 2011.
10. William F. Buckley Jr.
Just like Ann Coulter, her predecessor and controversial conservative pundit, William F. Buckley Jr., was hit at University of Arizona with a coconut cream pie in the face. The perpetrator was the famed pie-thrower Aron Kay.
11. Andy Warhol
Aron Kay was a serial offender who also pied Andy Warhol because he met with the Shah of Iran, who Aron considered a dictator.
12. Jeremy Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson, the controversial British television host who opinions in the past have irked environmentalists was hit in the face with a custard pie before he was receiving an honorary degree in engineering from Oxford Brookes University in 2005.
13. Marguerite Duras
Noel Godin, who is making his third appearance in this list pied French novelist and experimental filmmaker, Marguerite Duras in 1969. He said about her, ‘She has a kind of intelligence and cleverness that serves only her own vanity’.
14. Guru Maharaj Ji
Guru Maharaj Ji , whose birth name is Prem Rawat was pied in 1973 in Detroit when he was 15-year old and was deemed a child god. He was pied with a shaving cream pie by Pat Halley, who was a reporter for the radical newspaper Fifth Estate. Halley released a statement that she was protesting the guru as a fraud and said, ‘I do not like authority, I do not like God because he is an authority.’
