Showbiz is a difficult place to get in and succeed, survival is even more difficult. The place is filled with people trying to take advantage of vulnerable people. It takes someone with a strong will to navigate it. Some can’t cope with the pressures and give up. Her we make a list of some such celebrities who committed suicide.
1. Kurt Cobain
His suicide is one of the most famous suicides of all time, if that is a thing. It did touch a lot of people. Too much fame too quick might have done him good. He was talking about trying to kill himself in his music and in a way his suicide completed his work. The young hip hop musicians nowadays are obsessed with him because of the romanticization of his suicide. He died because of a self inflicted gunshot at age 27 in 1994 at his home in Seattle.
2. Margot Kidder
She was famous for playing Lois Lane in the Superman film series. She recieved diagnosis for bipolar disorder in 1988 which she refused. She passed away in 2018 at age 69 from a self-inflicted alcohol and drug overdose.
3. Savannah
She is one of the most famous adult film stars of all time. She was also known for dating famous men. Her conquests include Billy Idol, Vince Neil, David Lee Roth, guitarist Slash, actor Mark Wahlberg and Gregg Allman. She was involved in an accident which injured her face and broke her nose, which upset her and she decided to kill herself by gunshot. She died in 1994 at only 23.
4. Ernest Hemingway
He was one of the biggest celebrity in his lifetime, more famous than heads of state and movie stars. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. He suffered from severe depression and recieved a dozen shock treatments for it. He killed himself by shooting himself in the mouth at age 61 in 1961.
5. Hunter S. Thompson
He was the inventor of ‘Gonzo’ journalism. He was also known for heavy drinking and smoking. His reporting suffered because he got too famous and he could not longer report because he was easily recognized. He suffered health problems because of his lifestyle which led to depression and finally suicide by self-inflicted gunshot like his hero Ernest Hemingway. He was 67 years old. As his wishes his ashes were fired out of a cannon in a ceremony funded by his friend Johnny Depp, and attended by John Kerry and Jack Nicholson.
6. Robin Williams
He is one greatest stand-up comedian and comedic actor of all time. He decided to kill himself because he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He committed suicide by hanging himself in his home in California in 2104 at age 63.
7. Anthony Bourdain
He was a chef who was also a travelling documentarian, and known as the heir in spirit to Hunter S. Thompson. In 2018, he was found dead of an apparent suicide by hanging in his apartment in Paris at age 61. The reason is supposedly he was depressed after his breakup the previous day from his girlfriend Asia Argento.
8. Chester Bennington
He was the lead vocalist for the band Linkin Park. He was battling from mental issues. He was found dead in his home in California by his housekeeper in 2017. He committed suicide by hanging, he was 41 years old.
9. Don Cornelius
He was the host of Soul Train from 1971 to 1993. He died because of self-inflicted gunshot in 2012 at the age of 75. He was suffering from early onset of Alzheimer’s disease, and his health was deteriorating.
